Bah.. feeling bored now.. but i got a strong desire to blog down all that i know.. not alot.. and may not even help.. but here goes.. heck, may even serve as a reminder to mi lol.. haha.. Holding The Bow 1)When holding the bow, your hand placement should be the same as when u lean on a lamp post or smth similar to it 2)If ur not using a sling, use about 3 fingers to lightly hold the bow. DO NOT GRIP THE BOW. your Kuckles shld form a 45 degree angle. 3)Your Bow Arm should not be extremely straight. it should be slightly bent to provide stability after release. 4)Your Arm should be twisted to prevent injury frm the string. To do this, put ur fist to ur chest. straighten ur arm. thats how it shld be like. 5)Your Shoulder must always be down. Drawing 1)When drawing, you should only use 3 fingers, which are the middle 3. the arrow should rest between the index and middle finger, and u must never grip the arrow using ur fingers. 2)Your fingers shld form a "Tiger Claw" shape arnd the arrow, and the string shld rest on the meaty joints of the finger. 3)Or, u can do a fingertip release.. more painful, but according to Yazid, aids in fishtailing 4)Do a predraw. this invloves pulling the bow slightly. before bringing the bow to eye level, and full drawing. 5)When at full draw, the string should be touching the middle of ur chin, and cutting ur nose into half. for more expierenced archers, they choose to anchor behind the nose for extra drawlength. 6)The anchoring point for most archers is below the chin. 7)After full drawing, try using ur back muscles by "squeezing" them together. 8) By the end of these, u shld have a shape of a perfect "T" Releasing This is the most impt part to mi because doing this worng, is equvilant to not doing any of the above.. 1)While in the perfect 'T' position, release your fingers. Take note: DO NOT PLUCK, which involves ur hands moving sideways when releasing. 2)Your hands shld automatically move to somewhere arnd ur shoulder. 3)When releasing, be wary of the follow through. which means leaving ur bow arm in the original position after the shot. Hopefully this helps any budding archers passing by.. i know its not much.. but hope it helps.. anything to add? just drop a comment.. =) |
