Sunday, April 08, 2007 Holla! Yeap, im back for a post.. after a nasty bout of the flu none the less, Thanks for ur well wishes peeps, i AM fine now. *sniff* Healed By The Blood Of Jesus! Hallelujah! Gosh.. im actually molting now.. sunburnt since last sat, and only taking effect now.. fantastic.. my skin's core drive must be running on a pentium one processor. Anyhow, This post isnt going to be about my fantastic lobster bisque coloured skin, BUT, it will touch on the subject of food! Yes mateys! You're witnessing History in the making, Hurray Hurray Hurray! Yeap, i had wanted to reccomend food places, and heres my Very first one. KOK KEE WANTON NOODLES I don't suppose this local favourite needs any formal introduction, but just to expand the word count, here goes. Wanton Noodles: Boiled egg noodles served with char siew(Roasted pork) and meat/shrimp stuffed dumplings. The 2 different kinds of wanton noodles you can find in Singapore is those that are served dry with dark soya sauce of chilli( more common), or with a heavenly stock(which this stall falls under). Usual condiments are vegetables and if ur lucky, pork lard (Don't shoot me down just yet. You silly sods have no idea the different level of taste those little things bring) Personally, i've been eating at this store ever since i was erm.. round would be a good describtion here. TaDA! What 4 dollars will buy you. Noodles cooked to almost perfection. Very Q and almost brings a nostalgic Al Dante feel. Here's it's close up. Mouth watering eh.. What i like about it: The noodle blends perfectly with the sauce. Everything comes together for an ALMOST perfect harmony. What i DONT like about it: The char siew, tho self made, doesnt have enuff fat on it. Personally, i like mine to be barbequed to give the whole dish a smoky flavour. The noodles is generous with the 4 dollar order, but condiments are given very 'giam siap'-ly *no the writer did not DID NOT sneaked any while u werent looking* Anywayz, still earns from me a respectable 4/5 stars, cos that sauce is just finger er suckin' good. (I will not put myself under infringement from copyright laws) Word of caution. Go at night. Personally had a bad experience of walking for 10 minutes to the hawker centre from my workplace in the mid-day heat only to find the store wasnt open. Twice. IF ur lucky enuff tho, be plagued by the eternal queue! |
